2025 Texoma District Meeting

The Texoma District brought its signature blend of education, fellowship, and spirited fun in November to Stillwater, Oklahoma. With 72 registered attendees and a warm welcome extended to 12 Kansas State University students, this year’s gathering reflected strong engagement from both industry professionals and the next generation of millers.

From the opening tee-off to the closing roar of the stadium crowd at the football game, the event captured the camaraderie and energy that define the Texoma District.

Golf, Gatherings, and a Strong Start

The meeting opened Thursday afternoon at Cimarron National Golf Club, where attendees enjoyed a friendly golf tournament under crisp fall skies. With a shotgun start, the outing offered a relaxed atmosphere perfect for networking and kicking off the week’s events.

That evening, the group headed to Guthrie Brewing Company for an informal gathering that brought together millers, suppliers, and students. As everyone settled in with a local craft brew, the Wildcat men’s basketball team faced off against the California Golden Bears – providing an exciting backdrop for reconnecting with friends and colleagues.

Technical Education and Industry Insight

Friday’s program, held at the Oklahoma State Food and Agricultural Products Center (FAPC), delivered a full schedule of timely and engaging educational content. Following breakfast and registration, attendees gathered for opening remarks and an IAOM update before diving into the day’s sessions.

The morning presentations offered critical regional and industry context:

  • Oklahoma Wheat Update presented by Mike Schulte, Oklahoma Wheat Commission
  • Wheat Industry Trends presented by Jan Lee Rowlett, Oklahoma Department of Agriculture

After a short refreshment break, the agenda shifted to packaging, equipment, and milling advancements:

  • Packaging Technologies and Trends presented by Yan Gagne, Premier Tech
  • Roll Corrugating Panel featuring experts from 360 Roll Works, Bühler, and Scherer
  • Equinom presented by Karl Ledergerber

Attendees enjoyed a catered barbecue lunch before the afternoon’s technology-focused sessions resumed:

  • SmartMills and AI presented by Syed Ashraf, Kice Industries
  • Swisca SIFTO presented by Ruedi Weiss, Swisca

A brief refreshment break was followed by a presentation from Maria Lopez, OSU Career Services, and an engaging OSU FAPC tour, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the Center’s innovative programs.

The day wrapped with the annual district business meeting before attendees returned to Guthrie for a second casual evening at Guthrie Brewing Company.

Football, Tailgating, and Texoma Spirit

Saturday brought one of the most beloved Texoma District traditions: tailgating and Big 12 football. Attendees gathered for a spirited pre-game tailgate before heading into Boone Pickens Stadium.

In a defensive showdown, Kansas State defeated Oklahoma State 14–6. With everyone seated together, the group enjoyed lively camaraderie, friendly rivalry, and the electric atmosphere of game day in Stillwater. Transportation from the Hampton Inn in Guthrie to the stadium and back made for a smooth and enjoyable experience.
